Its protection depends on a river, to the south of the Duero it is strictly protected, by the European Union, to the north of this, each autonomous community manages it and in Portugal "totally and strictly protected".
In Madrid hundreds of people gathered in support of this Iberian gem, to ask for real protection and paralyze the killing of wolves. They left Atocha, in front of the Ministry of Agriculture, ..., until they reached the Puerta del Sol. Shouting, "We want there to be a homogenous protection figure and at the same time we ask for support measures for extensive livestock farming".
A few days ago it was confirmed that wolves from Italy have crossed the Pyrenees and have reached Aragon. This would be good news for the survival of the genetic diversity of the Iberian population, increasing their gene pool. Keep in mind that last year 2017 killed at least 500 copies that are almost the same as they were born in the year.
